FC Porto was defeated 1-0 in Braga, for matchday 31 of the championship. Ricardo Horta (53m) scored the goal that led to the first defeat in the last 59 matches for the League.
Pressing and aggressive with the ball, the Dragons went in with attitude and looking for a goal. Three minutes in, just a few centimetres and Paulo Oliveira prevented that goal: Vitinha passed to Evanilson, who entered the area from the right, dribbled Matheus and, in the small area, Paulo Oliveira cleared the situation into a corner when Taremi was getting ready to put the ball in the back of the net. Hugo Miguel proceeded to check the VAR to see the tackle of Matheus on the blue and white number 30, but the match continued with a corner-kick. After a hand in the area by Al Musrati that was also disregarded by the refereeing team, 25 minutes in, Evanilson, in a similar move to the one on minute three, came on the right wing again and crossed for Paulo Oliveira to clear it towards his own goal, forcing his goalkeeper to a good save that hit the top bar.
SC Braga tried to react to the blue and white superiority and, 40 minutes in, Ricardo Horta posed danger in a volley just outside the area that hit the blue and white post. In the final moments of the first-half, Abel Ruiz, alone in the area, saw his shot saved by Diogo Costa, quick and clever in the way he reduced the space to shoot for the Spanish forward. When Hugo Miguel signalled the break, the match was tied without goals, but, just seconds before, the Dragons called for a clear foul from Yan Couto on Taremi inside the area, which was also not taken into consideration by the referee.
FC Porto was the one creating the first dangerous situation in the second-half through Pepê, with a powerful shot aimed at the angle of the goal defended by Matheus, who avoided the goal with a great save, but the opponent opened the scoreboard soon after. In a quick counter, Abel Ruiz crossed to Ricardo Horta, who managed to shoot at the far post for goal. Sérgio Conceição tried to change the match early on and Galeno, one of the men who went in during the second-half, had a great opportunity 78 minutes in: recovering the ball from the home defence, Wendell crossed from the left and, after some confusion in the area, the winger shot over the goal. In stoppage time, Otávio had a good chance to score, with a shot from inside the area, but the ball went over the bar and the three points were lost for the Dragons.
