MANILA, Philippines, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Biosphere Pilot Facility in the Philippines is set to be installed within a one hectare portion of the existing landfill in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The plan was disclosed by Ruth P. Briones, Chief Executive Officer of Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation, during the management committee meeting of the City of San Fernando Biosphere Gasification Project held on April 18, 2009.

The site has been officially turned-over to Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation by the City Council through a Sanguniang Resolution passed as a subsequent action to the memorandum of agreement signed by both Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation and Mayor Oscar Rodriquez.

The City of San Fernando is closing the landfill to pave way for the one hectare Pilot Biosphere Gasification Facility in the Philippines. The one hectare lot is a portion of a 15-hectare landfill which shall be converted into a Bamboo Plantation project by the City.

The Biosphere Facility and the Bamboo plantation would emerge as an Ecological Zone that will also serve as a tourist attraction for the city, and at the same time would provide the City revenues from cheap green energy and green credits, which are traded now at the world's market.

Ms. Briones disclosed that pre-front end engineering design and activities are already ongoing for the Biosphere Facility which is expected to be the first Biosphere Gasification Facility in the Asian region.

It was further stated that the Pilot Gasification Project is an alternative to the landfill of treating municipal solid waste in the City of San Fernando. By adopting the Biosphere Process, wastes are disposed of and at the same time create electricity by destroying waste in a cost-effective manner without polluting the environment. This Biosphere Process creates electricity by gasifying traditional and non-traditional waste materials and/or fossil fuels using extremely high temperatures. This process is done in a limited-oxygen environment thereby significantly limiting or eradicating atmospheric emissions.

The Biosphere Process and EcoTechnology were invented by Dr. Chris McCormack. Because of the very limited amount of oxygen injected into the Biosphere, the system meets with and exceeds all European and US atmospheric emissions standards.

Spectrum Blue Steel Corporation was granted by the Global Environmental Energy Corporation (Global Environmental: Deutsche Borse: GLI.F) (OTC Bulletin Board: GEECF) the exclusive license to Market, sell, promote and operate the Biosphere Process and Technology in the Philippines, (http://www.spectrumbluesteel.com) and is expected to install, operate and manage twenty five Biosphere Gasification Facilities in the country within a period of two years.
