London, 21 June 2013 - HCL has thrown its weight behind National Care Home Day, an event aiming to create lasting links between care home residents and their local communities.

HCL Permanent Operations Manager Becky Williams says HCL is thrilled to be involved, and hopes their participation is contagious to other healthcare organisations.

"We are visiting 28 care homes today, generating positive noise and getting stuck into a variety of events with care home residents, their family and friends including bird shows, bake offs, galas, singers, spa sessions and BBQs," Ms Williams said.

"We live and breathe this sector - it's a great opportunity for care homes to open their doors in a bid to promote transparency and show them in a positive light. The HCL team is looking forward to meeting the candidates we have placed in the homes as well as the residents themselves,"

Studies from the Relatives and Residents Association show many care home residents feel isolated, some without friends and family to visit or write letters.
"Today is the perfect opportunity to generate community action and enrich the lives of some amazing people."

HCL supplies nursing staff, managers and deputy managers to care homes predominantly in the north of England and the Midlands.
