HERMÈS CREATES THE ÉCOLE HERMÈS DES SAVOIR-FAIRE

AND AWARDS THE FRENCH NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN LEATHERWORK.

On 6th September 2021, Hermès opened the École Hermès des savoir-faire (Hermès apprenticeship training centre), accredited by the French National Education authority, within its leather workshop of Fitilieu, in Isère. Ultimately, all of the group's leatherworking hubs, located across the regions of France, will have their own training centres.

Hermès know-how and teaching recognised by a French national diploma

Hermès training, now recognised by a French national diploma in leatherworking (CAP Maroquinerie), is the acknowledgement of the house's long-standing educational expertise in the transmission of its exceptional leatherwork know-how.

The house's expert artisan-trainers provide skills training as well as guidance in preparing for and taking the CAP leatherworking exams. An endorsement of the excellence of their skills, these artisan-trainers, who are more than 90 within the group's leather goods division, accompany apprentices for more than a year and evaluate their training.

An apprenticeship in a métier of excellence open to all

The École Hermès des savoir-faire is open to applicants of all backgrounds who aspire to become artisans and develop their manual skills.

The school will train apprentices who will have the opportunity to learn a métier of excellence. Once they graduate, they will be able to join one of the group's 19 leather goods workshops, among other possibilities.

Hermès affirms its commitment to education

The École Hermès des savoir-faire supports the house's ambitions in terms of education, to which it is already committed, both as a company and via the Fondation d'entreprise Hermès, through multiple programmes with schools and colleges such as the Sciences Po Chair in Sustainable Development, and the Manufacto and Manuterra schemes in partnership with the French National Education authority.

Since 1837, Hermès has remained faithful to its artisan model and its humanist values. The freedom to create, the constant search for beautiful materials, the transmission of savoir-faire of excellence, and the aesthetic of functionality all forge the singularity of Hermès, a house of objects created to last. An independent, family owned company, Hermès is dedicated to keeping the majority of its production in France through its 51 workshops and production sites and to developing its network more than 300 stores in 45 countries. The group employs almost 17,000 people worldwide, including nearly 10,600 in France, among whom more than 5,600 are craftsmen*. Axel Dumas, a sixth-generationfamily member, has been Hermès CEO since 2013.

Founded in 2008, the Fondation d'entreprise Hermès supports projects in the areas of artistic creation, training and the transmission of savoir-faire, biodiversity, and the preservation of the environment.
