The Dallas-based company said it had a loss of 34 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 87 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 67 cents per share.

The independent energy company posted revenue of $7.66 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $7.71 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.59 billion, or $8.29 per share. Revenue was reported as $31.96 billion.
