Hyundai Elevator will join the One Team Korea consortium of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport in a bid in the smart city field in Indonesia, slated for March 15 to 19.
Hyundai Elevator will join One Team Korea, led by Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Minister Won Hee-ryong. As a member of the government-private consortium, the company will work to export packages combining urban construction + cutting-edge technology (mobility, smart city, etc.) + culture to Indonesia, a country with high growth potential with a population of 270 million (ranking 4th), an average annual economic growth rate of about 5%, and rich in resources such as nickel, and expand substantial human and resource exchanges between the two countries.
Minister Won Hee-ryong remarked, "Indonesia ranked first in Korea's overseas construction orders last year, our major infrastructure partner. Projects that Korean companies have worked hard on for a long time, including the country's new capital and urban railway, will proceed in full fledge," adding, "Starting with Indonesia, we will provide full support for the excellent technologies of Korean companies leading the smart city, mobility, IT, and culture fields can be utilized in the ASEAN market."
Hyundai Elevator CEO Cho Jae-cheon said, "As Korea's representative elevator company, we will actively cooperate with government orders as a member of One Team Korea led by Minister Won Hee-ryong. It will be the basis for us to exert utmost efforts in tapping into and expanding overseas markets like Indonesia and Neom City in Saudi Arabia."
Hyundai Elevator provides robot interlocking and Open API (software interface supporting the connection between computers or computer programs) services to Naver's new office building elevator and is collaborating with about ten robot companies, including LG Electronics, on robot-elevator interlocking.
Hyundai Elevator is utilizing such experiences to promote standardization of the smart + building field and robot-elevator interlocking. It plans to make active efforts to preoccupy international standards.
Hyundai Elevator has been revitalizing the elevator industry based on Open API. About 60 companies, research institutes, and individuals are participating in the company's Open API service it unveiled March last year.
Hyundai Elevator's Open API allows the development of various services e.g. calling an elevator with a smartphone without pressing a button or providing customized information to signages in elevators by identifying passengers' information. It is also possible to improve the operation system by analyzing elevator usage information to reduce power consumption or shorten the waiting time by automatically sending elevators to floors where passengers are crowded.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Elevator entered Indonesia in 2013 and is expanding its presence in the ASEAN market. Hyundai Elevator and Hyundai Movex, both affiliates of Hyundai Group, will participate in the smart city sector and showcase K-elevators/lifts, K-logistics automation/IT service technologies. It will also strive to improve performance in the smart mobility field of Neom City, Saudi Arabia, currently underway.
