Amazon.com and Avangrid have signed an agreement that will allow the ecommerce giant to source renewable energy from a new U.S.-based wind farm.
Avangrid, the sustainable energy arm of Spanish electricity company Iberdrola, on Friday said it would build a wind farm in Oregon that would help Amazon remain on a path to only use renewable energy to power operations by 2025.
The wind farm would have a capacity of 98.4 megawatts, with enough energy to power 22,800 homes in a year, and would employ 200 people during its construction, Avangrid said.
Avangrid owns and operates eight electric and natural gas utilities and a portfolio of renewable energy generation facilities in the U.S.
