On a clear Monday morning of 11th November 2013, women employees of IBHFL had special guests waiting for them. The HR team led by Ms. Varsha Shetty and Preeti Bhargava along with Office of the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai had organised a training workshop exclusively for our women employees.

In the light of rising crimes against women, this workshop was organised with a clear objective of creating awareness about basic laws and rights for women. This workshop also aimed to empower women with basic training in self defence that would enable them to safeguard themselves in a crisis situation.

DCP Harvinder Kaur Waraich, Armed Police, Training, Sports & Welfare, Kalina, Mumbai, gave a complete shape to this programme. Inspector Shalini Sharma from her team conducted this workshop. She was assisted by her team including Pradip Mohite, Nutan Kadam, Prashant Kamble & Vinaya Munde.

They spoke about various difficult situations which women could face and how to cope with the same. General tips on safety and updated information about NGOs and other forums where women can seek help was also shared.
This was followed by a session of practical demonstration of self defence techniques. All the employees participated in the same where they paired up and role played various scenarios. Pepper sprays were also distributed to all the workshop
participants.

The employees appreciated the workshop. They learnt how to handle a difficult situation with confidence and presence of mind. Ms. Varsha Shetty, Head HR present at the workshop commented that, "At IBHFL the safety of our employees is a priority. In the wake of recent incidents in the city, we felt there was an urgent need to create awareness about women's safety and train our employees in basic skills for self defence. This workshop was organised specifically keeping in mind that a lot of our employees commute long distance from home to office and may face some crisis situations while travelling. By empowering them with self defence skills we hope they can deal with any difficult situation confidently".
