Notice Concerning Crude Oil Leak from Akita Field Office

On June 20 at approximately 5:40 a.m. (JST), a crude oil leak occurred from a flowline under the control of INPEX CORPORATION's Akita Field Office located in Akita City, Akita Prefecture. All production wells using the flowline were shut down by 6:05 a.m. and the leak was confirmed to be contained at 7:45 a.m. on the same day.

The presence of leaked crude oil has been confirmed in the vicinity of the flowline as well as in the Kusouzu River, a Class A river. Countermeasures including retrieving the leaked crude oil and setting up an oil fence in the river are currently being implemented. Furthermore, the point of leakage has been determined and leakage prevention countermeasures are being put into place.

INPEX has set up a crisis response team locally and is gathering information while engaging with stakeholders under the guidance of local authorities.

The company conveys its profound regret for the inconvenience caused by this incident to all stakeholders.
