On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had net income of 32 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 35 cents per share.

The perfume maker posted revenue of $328.7 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $329 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $152.7 million, or $4.75 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.32 billion.
