Intertek Participates in American Law Institute's Continuing Legal Education Webcast Panel Discussion on PFAS November 22, 2021

Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, will be a proud panelist in the American Law Institute's (ALI's) Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Webcast, What's on the Horizon for PFAS Regulation? Rulemaking, Remediation, and EPA's "Roadmap", on 6 December 2021.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of manufactured carbon and fluorine-based chemicals, which include chemicals known as PFOS, PFOA, GenX, and more. PFAS can be easily released into the environment, contaminating the air, soil, and water-including sources of drinking water. These chemical compounds are highly resistant to disintegration and take a longer time to break down in the environment and in the human body.

Regulatory bodies and policy makers in the U.S., Canada, the EU, and Australia have developed guidelines or standards to address the environmental and human health concerns relating to PFAS. Regulations around the world have banned, prohibited, or restricted their use in a variety of products. These regulations are continuously evolving. PFAS are being carefully examined to understand more about their environmental and human toxicity, with the goal of enabling the categorization of PFAS compounds for more efficient regulations. It is more important than ever to consider the future landscape of PFAS liability.

In the ALI's 90-minute CLE webcast, panelists will discuss how PFAS are being used in the supply chain, how they can be identified, and what PFAS users are doing to reduce their use. The panel will provide the latest information on regulatory and legislative activities at the federal and state levels and offer some insight into what can be expected in 2022.

Intertek expert Rose Passarella, Director of the Chemicals group at Intertek Assuris, will be presenting, PFAS in the supply chain - where it can be, how to find it, and what to do about it, as part of the webcast.
