SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Invitae Corp. (NVTA) on Tuesday reported a loss of $181.9 million in its first quarter.

The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 80 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 78 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 77 cents per share.

The genetic testing company posted revenue of $123.7 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $126.7 million.
