Itron, Inc. : Itron Technology Leveraged for Natural Gas Data Collection in Ukraine

LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. - Jan. 23, 2013 - Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that it is working in collaboration with Donetzkoblgas, Ukraine's gas company, to implement a walk-by meter reading system for more than 150 of its residential gas customers. This is the first automated meter reading system installed in the country and it serves as the initial step in migrating from manual meter reading to automated meter reading.
"Our goal is to improve the effectiveness of our current meter reading process by reducing manual reading errors and billing inaccuracies," said Mass Nikolay, CEO of Dontzkoblgas. By automating the meter reading process, Donetzkoblgas can reduce the likelihood of human errors, increase the accuracy of monthly bills, solve problematic access to meters and ensure data is collected securely.
