Sainsbury's today unveiled its new look Colchester Avenue supermarket following months of refurbishment works with a special ceremony with store colleagues.

The renovation work and new offering, including Argos store inside the store, SmartShop technology and Click & Collect, have been rolled out to provide customers with more convenience and choice.

The investment into the store also involves a new beauty department, coffee bar in the café and a refreshed Tu clothing and Home section. Some changes were also made to the store's refrigeration, ventilation and heating systems to improve efficiency and save energy.

The store's longest serving team members had the honour of cutting a ribbon to mark the completion of the works and to welcome customers through the doors officially. Lynne Burke (42 years' service at Sainsbury's) and Bev Fabian who has worked in the store since it first opened 37 years ago, were joined by Christine Rogers who commenced at Argos Cardiff City Link in 2006.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury's Property Director said: 'Convenience and improving the shopping experience for our customers is at the heart of this significant renovation. This store has served the local community for over 37 years and we're confident the investments we've made ensure we're well placed to serve the community long into the future. This store provides residents and visitors with a safe, fresh and convenient shopping destination.'

Rob Orton, Sainsbury's Colchester Avenue Store Manager said: 'We've really appreciated the patience and support of our customers as we undertook this major upgrade whilst continuing to trade. The team is really excited with the result and I know our customers will enjoy the changes as well.'
