Jena/Wedel, 16.01.2014

The Jenoptik Defense & Civil Systems division will equip a total of 86 military vehicles with turret and weapon stabilization systems on behalf of a German Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Jenoptik received the order, worth 15.7 million euros, from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), a German manufacturer of security and defense technology. Jenoptik will deliver electro-mechanical turret and weapon stabilization systems to KMW for a total of 62 Leopard 2 tanks as well as for 24 howitzer (PzH 2000) vehicles. These systems stabilize and adjust the turret and weapon in these two vehicle types.

Jenoptik is one of Germany's most important providers of subsystems and components in the area of security and defense technology. "This new order for land vehicles demonstrates that our solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. It also allows us to contribute to the safety of our soldiers", says Jenoptik CEO Michael Mertin.

Jenoptik had already received various orders for defense technology in 2013. The Jenoptik Defense & Civil Systems division also supplies target acquisition systems and mirror heads for the gunner targeting device on the Leopard 2 to another leading German OEM.
