Drone video shows aftermath of Texas wildfire

STORY: In the town of Stinnett, near where the fire started, local authorities said about 20 structures were demolished, including homes in the Scotts Acres neighborhood. Vehicles sat destroyed and debris lay piled on lots.

The neighborhood is also home to one of the first deaths of the fire. Local officials and family members confirmed to various outlets that Joyce Blankenship, 83, died in her home.

The blaze, dubbed the Smokehouse Creek Fire, had doubled in size since Wednesday (February 28) and was 3% contained on Thursday morning, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Firefighters used a brief lull in the strong winds that have swept the sparsely populated area in recent days to erect barriers and douse hot spots of downed trees and thick grass.
