Shares of power producers rose as the defensive sector retained some momentum from last week.
Utilities rose last week, even as the broad market underwent a significant correction.
Traders gravitated towards "the quintessential sector to do well during disturbing" or unsettled economic and geopolitical times, said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management.
