KT&G : Sangsang Madang’s recruitment for Indie on Spotlight to foster emerging musicians

KT&G Sangsang Madang is calling for participants for its "Indie on Spotlight" program to nurture emerging musicians in Busan. Applications are open until the 31st.

"Indie on Spotlight" is a project based in Busan aimed at fostering new musicians through mentoring and performance opportunities. Since 2021, KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan has collaborated with Music Lab Busan to run this program annually.

Eligibility for this year's "Indie on Spotlight 5" includes individuals or teams with less than two years of experience, residing in Busan, and possessing at least three original songs. After a document review, two teams scoring high in public appeal, originality, and potential will be selected based on their video performances.

The final selected teams will receive mentoring from singer-songwriter Fromm, including coaching on songwriting and performance preparation. They will perform with the mentor artist at KT&G Sangsang Madang Busan on July 27th.

Kim Cheon-bum, head of the KT&G Culture Contribution Department, said, "We hope that emerging musicians will actively participate through Indie on Spotlight, receiving practical help from senior musicians and sharing the stage. We plan to continue leveraging KT&G Sangsang Madang's infrastructure to contribute to the development of the domestic music industry."

Additionally, KT&G Sangsang Madang is a multifaceted cultural arts space that supports the creative activities of emerging artists and provides the public with a broad cultural experience. Starting with "Sangsang Madang Hongdae" in 2007, it operates in five locations including Nonsan, Chuncheon, Daechi, and Busan, contributing to the expansion of cultural arts and regional cultural development. Sangsang Madang welcomes about 3 million visitors annually, with around 3,000 cultural and artistic programs operated each year.
