FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - Lufthansa 's vacation flight subsidiary, which was founded two years ago, is getting a new brand identity. Eurowings Discover will become Discover Airlines, the company announced in Frankfurt on Tuesday. The new name is also associated with a new brand design, which emphasizes the proximity to Lufthansa as well as the leisure orientation of the airline via the colors blue and yellow. A first jet in the new livery is scheduled to fly from Frankfurt to Mallorca on Wednesday.

However, all references to the direct flight sister Eurowings will disappear. The similarity in name to Eurowings had caused confusion among many passengers. Even before that, Discover flights were organized by the core company Lufthansa. The company currently operates 22 aircraft in Germany, departing exclusively from Lufthansa's hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.

Discover CEO Bernd Bauer announced six new aircraft for the coming year. Of these, five Airbus A320 short-haul jets are to be based in Munich. An A330 long-haul jet will be added in Frankfurt, where the core of the fleet will be based with 23 aircraft. From 2025, Discover also plans to offer long-haul flights from Munich./ceb/DP/stw
