STOCKHOLM--Lundin Energy AB Friday appointed Daniel Fitzgerald as chief operating officer from Jan. 1, 2021.

Mr. Fitzgerald currently holds the same position at International Petroleum Corporation, having previously held senior management and operational leadership positions at Lundin Petroleum AB.

Following the spin out of International Petroleum Corporation from Lundin, Mr. Fitzgerald was vice president operations and subsequently chief operating officer, responsible for operations and investments across their international portfolio.

Prior to joining Lundin and IPC, he worked for Royal Dutch Shell PLC's upstream business in the U.K. in a range of asset and operational leadership positions.

The appointment follows the decision by Lundin Energy's Chief Executive Alex Schneiter to step down and the appointment of Lundin's current Chief Operating Officer Nick Walker to replace Mr. Schneiter as CEO.
