Meliá Hotels International, the leading hotel company in Spain and one of the largest in the world, has received the Latin American Award for Corporate Responsibility from the Social Ecumenical Forum. The award acknowledges international organizations operating in Latin America that have excelled in the four key areas in Corporate Responsibility: institutional, economic, social and environmental.

The Forum selected the hotel company this year in recognition of the quality of its Annual Report, produced in accordance with Integrated Report guidelines to offer a full and multidimensional image of the company, an accurate measurement of its results and its impact on the environment, and a description of its strategy and business model. The 2016 Annual Report describes a more responsible company in environmental and social matters and corporate governance, allowing Meliá Hotels International to significantly improve its position in the most important Corporate Reputation indexes in Spain and Latin America.

The objective of the awards is to strengthen an inclusive culture of social responsibility, contribute to the definition of international standards, and highlight best practices. The Social Ecumenical Forum is a non-profit organization created in Argentina in 2001 and currently present in Europe and Latin America. The main objective of the Forum is to promote the values of social responsibility, dialogue and diversity.
