Nucor and Mercedes-Benz signed a contract on Wednesday to supply low-carbon steel for the vehicles produced by the automaker at its Tuscaloosa (Alabama) plant.

The American steelmaker specifies that it will supply the German group with its Econiq-RE steel, produced entirely from renewable energies and which it has been marketing since 2022.

According to Nucor, this technology reduces greenhouse gas emissions by half compared with traditional methods based on blast furnace production (Scopes 1, 2 & 3).
