Jamey Mock, chief financial officer and senior vice president of PerkinElmer Inc., will be stepping away from the company and joining Moderna Inc. as chief financial officer, effective Sept. 6, the companies said Wednesday.

Moderna, the Cambridge, Mass.-based biotechnology company widely known for its Covid-19 vaccine, said its current chief financial officer, David Meline, would retire Sept. 6 but remain as a consultant to the company to assist with the transition.

Mr. Meline previously retired as chief financial officer in May, but he quickly retook his role when his successor, Jorge Gomez, exited the company after two days.

Mr. Gomez's short tenure came as his previous employer, Dentsply Sirona Inc. revealed internal investigations into matters that included financial reporting.

PerkinElmer, a Waltham, Mass.-based healthcare solutions provider, named Max Krakowiak, the company's current vice president of corporate finance, as its new financial chief.
