Napier Port Holdings Limited resumed full operations on 23 February, 2023, including extended hours of operations for export delivery and empty container pick up from 27 February, 2023. The extended hours of operations are aimed at helping to ease congestion on the road network and support regional growers moving into peak season for produce exports. The company announced the resumption of cruise from 6 March, 2023.

Napier Port CEO Todd Dawson supported the decision to resume cruise and help bolster the region's economic recovery. A detailed survey of Napier Port's shipping channel and inner harbour last week revealed areas of minor infill of sand and silt deposits. The Albatros dredge arrived at Napier Port to undertake maintenance dredging.

Maintenance dredging is not expected to restrict shipping operations. At present Napier Port is unable to determine the impact on regional business and trade going forward. It will provide further updates as relevant information comes to hand.

Napier Port is consulting with its insurance broker regarding its business interruption insurance and the level of financial mitigation against the adverse trade effects of Cyclone Gabrielle.
