Tracking statistics for Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres players can be fun. But this season, doing so had extra meaning as National Grid partnerships with both teams meant scoring big away from the arenas to support local first responders.

Throughout the hockey season, as part of the Teamwork for Safety program, National Grid is donating $25 to 100 Club of Buffalo each time a Buffalo Sabre records an assist. Donations provide support to 100 Club of Buffalo, which provides service to first responders and their families.

Since 1957, the 100 Club has provided cash assistance to families of police officers killed in the line of duty, and has grown to also offer scholarships, educational assistance, and various awards to the members and families of the police, fire and emergency medical service agencies of Western New York.

'First responders do so much throughout Western New York to keep our community safe,' said Dan Misko, Pegula Sports & Entertainment's Sr. Vice President of Business Development. 'We're proud to join National Grid in promoting safety in our community and recognizing those who do their part throughout the Sabres season.'

Earlier this year, National Grid presented 100 Club of Buffalo with a $10,000 check as part of the Safety First program. Similar to Teamwork for Safety, Safety First was designed so that the company would donate $25 to 100 Club of Buffalo every time a Buffalo Bills safety made a tackle this past season.

'National Grid appreciates the dedication of our first responders, who are the ultimate team players in our communities,' said National Grid Regional Director Ken Kujawa. 'They are among those who selflessly and tirelessly step up and put the needs of others ahead of their own, each and every day.'

This past season, National Grid donated $25 for every tackle made by Buffalo Bills safeties, including Micah Hyde, who is featured on the poster.
