WESTFORD, Mass. (AP) _ NetScout Systems Inc. (NTCT) on Thursday reported a loss of $17.4 million in its fiscal first quarter.

The Westford, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 24 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 17 cents per share.

The provider of products that gauge network performance posted revenue of $183.8 million in the period.

NetScout shares have increased 12% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen slightly more than 2% in the last 12 months.
