(Alliance News) - British Land Co PLC on Friday said it has hired fashion retailer Next PLC's chief financial officer, Amanda Jones, as non-executive director, with effect from July 1.

The London-based commercial property developer and investor said Jones, who joined Next's finance team 28 years ago and has held the role of CFO since 2015, has "an extensive background in finance".

Jones is set to step down from her position at the fashion retailer at the end of September, following the release of its interim results.

Next first announced Jones' decision to retire from full-time work in October.

Next named Jonathan Blanchard, the current CFO at Reiss Group Ltd, as Jones' successor. Blanchard joined Next in February and will take over as CFO in July.

Jones will also join Auto Trader Group PLC as non-executive director on July 1.

Commenting on her appointment, British Land Chair Tim Score said: "We are delighted that Amanda is joining the British Land Board. Amanda brings not only deep expertise in finance, but also strong consumer, retail and multi-channel experience. Her depth of retail expertise will provide valuable insight into the needs of our customers as we continue to execute our value add strategy."

Shares in British Land rose 0.2% to 391.90 pence each in London on Friday morning.
