As Ooredoo continues to invest in the community, the company participated in a campaign to raise public awareness about the importance of organ donation and transplantation. In collaboration with the Department of National Organ Transplantation Programme, and as part of its Goodwill Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Ooredoo will promote the vital work carried out by the National Organ Transplantation Programme. The campaign includes tackling the common misconception about organ donation, diseases leading to organ failure, preventative measures and highlighting how this humanitarian act can be life- saving for organ failure patients.

The Department of the National Organ Transplantation Programme was established in January 2022 , following a Ministerial Decree. Organ donation and transplantation is a surgical procedure to transplant a healthy organ from a living or deceased donor for a patient with organ failure. Organ donation is permitted and encouraged in Islam and hence, has changed and saved the lives of many patients who were suffering from organ failure in Oman.

Statistics issued by the Ministry of Health indicate that there are more than 2,600 patients suffering from kidney failure and in need of a kidney transplant. At the same time, other patients are awaiting urgent liver, lung, and heart transplants.

Ooredoo considers itself an integrated member of Omani society and its Goodwill programme covers CSR initiatives to make a real difference to people across the country. For more information, please visit https://www.ooredoo.om/AboutOoredoo/CSR.aspx
