PIMCO Strategic Global Government Fund Inc. reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended January 31, 2012. For the quarter, the company reported net investment income of $12,411,538 or $0.31 per share compared to $13,534,546 or $0.35 per share a year ago. Net realized and change in unrealized gain of $467,795 or $0.02 per share compared to net realized and change in unrealized loss of $5,700,282 or $0.14 per share a year ago.

It invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in a combination of income-producing securities of non-corporate issuers, such as securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. or foreign governments, mortgage-related and other asset-backed securities issued on a public or private basis, corporate debt obligations and other income-producing securities of varying maturities issued by United States or foreign (non-United States) corporations or other business entities, including emerging market issuers, and municipal securities (the 80% policy).
