Over 30,000 specialized sport insurance policies were taken out via SberBank Online in a year. Athletes who practice various combat sports take out insurance policies more often than others. Fans of swimming, running, soccer, and rhythmic gymnastics also tend to be insured.

Sberbank insurance's Sports Protection program insures people against injuries incurred playing any and all sports on both the amateur and professional levels. Up to five sports can be listed in one insurance contract.

The most common sports for which people take out insurance are combat sports, with approximately half of the contracts including coverage against injuries incurred during this type of sport. Three thousand insurance policies included protection for karate, 2,400 for judo, 2,300 for sambo, 2,100 for martial arts, and 1,500 for taekwondo.

Swimmers also protect themselves with insurance: swimming is mentioned in approximately 10% of all contracts concluded. Insurance is popular among swimmers, runners, soccer players, and rhythmic gymnasts, with each of these sports appearing in 2,500 policies.

Over one hundred sports can be covered through Sports Protection. Three hundred and eighty-three chess players have insured themselves since the program was launched. Several clients have taken out policies to protect themselves while paragliding, hang gliding, windsurfing, longboarding, canyoneering, stunt riding, zorbing, freeboarding, BASE jumping, bocking, and engaging in speleology.

Sports Protection coverage can be arranged for a period of one day up to one year. Most clients take a policy out for a year (36%), a month (14%), or for one to two days (11% each).

A policy can be taken out for one person or for a sports team of up to 30 people. Both adults and children can be insured. Coverage is valid anywhere in the world.
