STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - Despite the chip crisis and supply chain problems, sports car manufacturer Porsche sold slightly more cars in 2022 than in the previous year. Deliveries by the Volkswagen subsidiary rose by three percent to 309,884, the Stuttgart-based DAX newcomer announced on Thursday. However, the number of sales fell by two percent in China, the most important single market. Porsche attributed that to the Corona restrictions. And for the all-electric Taycan model series, sales slumped 16 percent - the reason being bottlenecks in supply chains and limited availability of parts, it said.

"The many challenges triggered by the war in Ukraine, interrupted supply chains and the ongoing semiconductor crisis shaped the past year and placed great demands on us," said Chief Sales Officer Detlev von Platen. Nevertheless, more customers than ever before had received a new Porsche.

In the home market of Germany, sales figures were up by three percent. In the USA - the growth driver in the previous year - Porsche's sales were flat. On the other hand, the rest of Europe increased by seven percent and the sales region "Overseas and Growth Markets" - which includes Latin America, Africa, Australia, Japan and Korea - by 13 percent./dhu/DP/mis
