Portland General Electric : Thanks to customers’ clean energy choices, PGE invites organizations to apply for clean energy, electric vehicle funding

Portland, Ore. - Thanks to Portland General Electric (PGE) customers, three funding opportunities for local clean energy and electric vehicle projects open this month. The Renewable Development Fund, Electric School Bus Fund and Drive Change Fund are all made possible through PGE customer clean energy and electric vehicle choices and support communities across PGE's service area as they do their part to build a clean energy future for everyone.

'Thanks to PGE customers who choose renewable energy options and who charge their electric vehicles at home, we are excited to offer these clean energy funding opportunities for communities around Oregon,' said Dan Janosec, PGE Grants Manager. 'Together with customers, communities and the nonprofits who serve those most in need, we will fund more local renewable energy projects, get more electric vehicles on the road and help reduce emissions throughout our service area. We are committed to working alongside our customers and community partners to build a clean energy future that serves everyone.' Renewable Development Fund: Open April 1, 2021 PGE customers are helping build new renewable energy projects right in our own backyard. Since 1999, PGE customers have supported renewable energy by choosing one of our Green Future℠ options. Their contributions support the PGE Renewable Development Fund (RDF), which offers competitive grants for community clean energy projects. To date, the RDF has awarded 75 projects with $16.5 million dollars, creating more than 16.6 MW of new renewable generation. Applications opened April 1, 2021 and close on June 1, 2021. Electric School Bus Fund: Open April 15, 2021 Earlier this year, the first electric school buses arrived in Oregon thanks in part to the PGE Electric School Bus Fund. PGE is excited to once again partner with public school districts in our service area to help bring even more electric school buses to Oregon. Using funding from Oregon's Clean Fuels Program thanks to PGE customers who drive electric vehicles, PGE will pay for the incremental cost of an electric school bus and charging infrastructure. Drive Change Fund: Open April 30, 2021 Thanks to PGE customers who drive electric vehicles, PGE uses credits from Oregon's Clean Fuels Program to fund electric vehicle projects, including EV purchases, chargers and educational programs through the Drive Change Fund. Transportation is the single biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Oregon, and we are committed to reducing those emissions by accelerating access to - and adoption of - electric vehicles for everyone.
