Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WSE:PZU) said it has no plans to sell Alior Bank S.A. (WSE:ALR), denying media reports on the potential divestment of the banking unit. PZU, a key shareholder at Alior, wants to sell the bank due to the latter's difficult financial situation, Gazeta Wyborcza reported October 26, 2020. Polish state-controlled financial institutions are not interested in purchasing the lender, so it could be sold to a foreign financial institution, the newspaper noted.

However, PZU said the same day that it is not considering or analyzing the sale of the banking unit, with management board member Tomasz Kulik adding that PZU perceives its relationship with Alior as strategic and beneficial for building a banking channel to distribute its products, news agency PAP wrote.
