Prosper Construction Holdings Limited provided earnings guidance for the six months ended 30 June 2023. For the period, the Group is expected to record loss after taxation of not less than HKD 40 million for 2023 Interim, as opposed to a profit after tax of approximately HKD 7 million for the same period in year 2022. The turnaround from a profit to a loss for 2023 Interim was mainly due to a decrease in gross profit of approximately HKD 43 million, which was attributable to the marine engineering business segment (i) recording a decrease in revenue by more than 60% as key projects were already substantially completed by the end of year 2022 and newly engaged projects did not achieve significant progress during Interim 2023; (ii) having incurred repairs and mobilisation costs on vessels and equipment as preliminary work to prepare for an overseas project.
