Proximus PLC Reports Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year Ended December 31, 2023

Proximus PLC reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2023. For the fourth quarter, the company reported sales was EUR 1,521 million compared to EUR 1,548 million a year ago. Revenue was EUR 1,540 million compared to EUR 1,559 million a year ago. Net income was EUR 90 million compared to EUR 81 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was EUR 0.28 compared to EUR 0.25 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was EUR 0.28 compared to EUR 0.25 a year ago.
For the full year, sales was EUR 5,993 million compared to EUR 5,853 million a year ago. Revenue was EUR 6,048 million compared to EUR 5,914 million a year ago. Net income was EUR 357 million compared to EUR 450 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was EUR 1.11 compared to EUR 1.4 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was EUR 1.11 compared to EUR 1.4 a year ago.
Proximus SA is the leading telecommunications operator in Belgium. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by activity as follows:
- telecommunication services to individuals (36.4%): fixed telephony (1 million installed lines at the end of 2023), mobile telephony (3.3 million clients), Internet access services (1.8 million subscribers), interactive television broadcasting (1,674,000 subscribers), convergent services (1,112,000 subscribers), etc.;
- telecommunication services to enterprises (35.2%): fixed telephony (566,000 lines at the end of 2023), mobile telephony (1.8 million post-paid cards distributed), Internet access services and data transmission (440,000 subscribers). The group also sells wholesale communication minutes to other operators located in Belgium;
- carrier services (18.4%; BICS): connectivity and capacity services for telecom operators and international service providers;
- other (10%).
Belgium accounts for 71.7% of net sales.
