PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) participated in the Mangrove Planting Action #Work Together to Make Indonesia Green which was organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) and centered at Ketapang Urban Aquaculture, Mauk, Tangerang on Thursday, August 31, 2023, to commemorate World Mangrove Day and the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

The Deputy for Coordination of Environment and Forestry Management of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Nani Hendiarti, in her remarks asked all community groups to work together to make Indonesia green.

"Work Together to Make Indonesia Green" is the theme for mangrove planting. Let's unite and resolve to protect the earth that we were entrusted by our children and grandchildren to make it a better place in the future," said Nani.

PTBA and PT PLN (Persero) in collaboration with the Sinar Surya Sejahtera mangrove activist community donated 15,000 mangrove seedlings.

General Manager of PT Bukit Asam Tbk Tanjung Enim Mining Unit, Venpri Sagara, said that the company welcomed and fully supported this activity.

"PTBA is coordinating with BPDAS (Watershed Management Agency) to conduct a ground check with a planned mangrove rehabilitation area of 500 ha. Also, PTBA has already received a location recommendation from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry with a potential land area of 2,498 ha in West Sumatra and Lampung that is suitable for rehabilitation," he said.

The #Work Together to Make Indonesia Green series of Mangrove Planting Actions included planting 15,000 mangrove seedlings, 400 productive tree seedlings, community empowerment activities, and conservation actions on the release of belangkas/mimi, followed by surveying the locations for planting 15,000 mangrove stems.

The Rhizopora Sp type of mangrove was planted in a 3 hectare former pond in the Ketapang Urban Aquaculture environment. The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries also invited elementary and junior high school students in the Ketapang Aquaculture area to participate.

The Tangerang Regency Government, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through BPDAS Citali, Kemenko PMK, as well as State-owned Enterprises and the private sectors contributed to the success of this program.
