PT BUKIT ASAM TBK PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) supported the 9th Sawahlunto International Songket Silungkang Carnival (SISSCa) event, which was held by the Sawahlunto City Government on 7-10 September 2023.
SISSCa is one of the Sawahlunto City Calendar of Events which has been regularly held every year since 2015 and is listed in the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) at the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism.
PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Ombilin Mining Unit office served as the venue and main stage for SISSCa. PTBA was also the primary sponsor of this event.
"We will continue to synergize with the Sawahlunto City Government to promote regional tourism potential. One of them is to make Songket Silungkang a fashion product with economic value, that is highly competitive in the national fashion industry," said the General Manager of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Unit Ombilin Mining, Yulfaizon.
The agility of women's hands and feet in weaving the traditional Sawahlunto songket was on show at this event. The exhibition featured MSME vendors, songket weaving craftsmen, and photo exhibitions. Several Sawahlunto City art organizations performance added to the excitement of the event.
On September 9, 2023, a carnaval with the theme "Unforgettable Sawahlunto" made from Songket Silungkang was held with the route Sawahlunto Market Terminal - Triangular Mandiri Square T-junction.
Concurrent with the SISSCa event, an umbrella painting competition for elementary school students in Sawahlunto was also organized.
SISSCa is expected to further strengthen the image and tourism promotion of Sawahlunto City, thereby increasing the number of local and foreign tourist visits. The city of Sawahlunto is also committed to encouraging Songket Silungkang products, which contain cultural power, to become world-famous products.
