PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Mining Industry Holding Member MIND ID has implemented Good Mining Practice with decarbonization programs, including through Eco Mechanized Mining, which is to replace mining equipment that uses fossil fuels with electricity. Currently PTBA has operated 7 units of Electric Shovels (PC3000-6E), 40 units of Hybrid Dump Trucks (Belaz-75135), and 6 electric-based Mining Pumps.

The use of electricity-based mining equipment results in savings of up to 7 million liters of diesel fuel oil per year and reduces emissions by 19,777 tCO2e.

"PTBA strives to implement sustainable business practices in order to make optimal contribution to society, in line with its vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment, as well as efforts to support the Government in achieving its Net Zero Emissions target in 2060 or earlier," said President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk ( PTBA), Arsal Ismail.

Reduction of carbon emissions is estimated to reach 16 tons of CO2/year/bus. In addition, the use of electric buses reduces the use of fuel oil (BBM) up to 9,672 liters/year/bus.

Not only using electricity-based vehicles and mining equipment, PTBA also continues to undertake a number of programs to reduce carbon emissions, including through land reclamation, replacing ozone depleting substances with other environmentally friendly materials, the Mine Mouth Power Plant Cofiring Pilot Project in South Sumatra, and others.

"Decarbonization programs will continue to be implemented and developed in a sustainable manner in every line of the company to provide optimal results," said Arsal.
