Railcare's Lokverkstad has been commissioned to Nordic-adapt five Traxx locomotives for the leasing company Beacon Rail. The project is worth approximately SEK 12 million and will be carried out during the first two quarters of 2023. The project involves an overall solution where Railcare will install the safety system, ATC2, and modify the locomotives for Nordic conditions, as well as manage the approval process with the European Union's Railway Agency, ERA.

The approved locomotives will then be leased by Beacon Rail to Railcare's transport operations. The Traxx locomotives have been driven in Europe. However, to be reliably driven in Sweden and function well in Nordic conditions, several modifications need to be made together with the installation of ATC2.

The first locomotive has already been modified and will shortly be put into service for trial operation, which then forms the basis for approval by ERA. The remaining four locomotives will then be adapted continuously until the summer.
