River and Mercantile today announces that Mayan Uthayakumar becomes co-Manager of the ES River and Mercantile UK Dynamic Equity Fund, which he will manage alongside current fund manager William Lough.

Mayan joined R&M in 2015 as an analyst within the PVT Equities team, and most recently has been the team's Director of Research, responsible for the bottom-up research and alpha generation process. He was previously at Goldman Sachs and Sanford C Bernstein.

The ES River and Mercantile UK Dynamic Equity fund utilises an unconstrained approach to offer investors access to what R&M believes to be the strongest opportunities in the UK market.

William Lough said: "I'm delighted to welcome Mayan officially as co-Manager of the UK Dynamic Equity strategy, although he's been working closely with me since I started running the fund in 2018 and has been a valued member of the team even longer. Mayan already provides lead coverage on over a third of the portfolio's stocks so this is territory that he knows very well."

James Sym, R&M's Head of Equities, said: "Mayan has been an integral part of the team for many years with his focus, diligence, detail and enthusiasm, and has demonstrated a natural flair for stock picking. He has also helped drive forward the development of our systematic, team-based investment approach which has delivered significant long-term outperformance across our products. This promotion is also a great credit to the culture of the team and the organic process we have in place at R&M to develop and nurture talent."

Mayan Uthayakumar said "It's an exciting personal and professional milestone to be formally named as co-Manager and I appreciate the confidence and trust shown in me by Will, James and the broader team. We're all very focused on delivering the returns our investors expect."
