On October 11, 2022, Charles B. Johnson and Franklin Resources, Inc. announced that they have acquired the shares for investment and to support the re-election of certain incumbent members of Templeton Global Income FundÃs board of trustees, who would be opposed by the Saba Capital Management nominees at any new shareholder meeting. Charles B. Johnson stated that he and the Company filed a lawsuit against Saba Capital Management and certain other persons and are parties to a motion for a preliminary injunction seeking to enjoin the putative results of the June 6, 2022 shareholder vote of the Company with respect to certain persons nominated for election to its board of trustees by Saba Capital Management and requiring the defendants in the case to distribute corrective disclosures to shareholders prior to a new shareholder meeting.
Saba Capital Income & Opportunities Fund II (the Fund), formerly Templeton Global Income Fund, is a closed-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to provide investors with a high level of current income, with a secondary goal of capital appreciation. The Fund invests globally in debt and equity securities of public and private companies, which includes, among other things, investments in closed-end funds, special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), reinsurance, and public and private debt instruments. The Fund also may utilize derivatives, including total return swaps, credit default swaps, options and futures, in seeking to enhance returns and/or to reduce portfolio risk. The Fund may also invest up to 15% of its total assets in private funds on a discretionary basis. The Fundâs manager is Saba Capital Management, LP.
