Sasol Ltd. said Thursday that the number of employees infected by the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic was 774, increasing in line with the trend in South Africa, but that this hasn't materially hurt its business.

However, the South Africa-based petrochemical and energy company said a continuous increase in infections could potentially hurt the business operations in the near-term.

"While we have implemented all regulatory requirements and have the necessary controls in place, we will continue to actively monitor and mitigate the impact," Sasol said.
