Seibu Holdings Inc. Selected for Inclusion in Three ESG Indices Adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)
-Recognized for its strong commitment to Sustainability Action (ESG practices)-
Seibu Holdings Inc. (the "Company," TOKYO:9024) has been selected as a constituent for the MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, a leading environment, social and governance (ESG) index for the first time and the MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN) for the fifth consecutive year. The Company has also been selected for the S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index, which has put the group in three ESG indexes adopted by GPIF, one of the world's largest pension funds as a tracking benchmark for its passive ESG investment.
The MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index is designed to target companies with high ESG performance selected from Japan's top 700 listed companies by market capitalization. Meanwhile, the MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index known as "WIN" comprises Japanese companies that display high gender diversity. The S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index is a global environmental stock index created S&P Dow Jones Indices.
Separately, the Company has also been selected as a constituent of the MSCI Japan Empowering Women Select Index for the fourth consecutive year.
In accordance with the group's management philosophy "Group Vision," Seibu has been actively promoting ESG initiatives toward realization of a sustainable society under the name of "Sustainability Actions." In consideration of various issues confronting our society today as well as the shifting market environment, Seibu is actively committed to ESG practices particularly in the categories of safety, environment, community engagement, and corporate culture.
"Sustainability" is one of the three main themes that Seibu has focused on in its "FY2021-FY2023Medium-term Management Plan."
Additionally, Seibu expressed its support for the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), and Seibu has also participated in the "TCFD Consortium."
