SES announced on Wednesday that its next-generation O3b mPower satellite system is now operational and ready to deliver its first high-performance connectivity services.

To date, the operator has launched six of the 13 satellites that will make up this software-controlled network, located in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) 8,000 km above the ground.

The group now plans to start providing its customers with services ranging from several tens of megabits per second to several gigabits per second over the coming months.

The next two O3b mPower satellites are scheduled for launch at the end of 2024.
