SGS has launched a new service to support food and food packaging organizations to achieve compliance with Egypt's National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) food safety guidelines and gain registration to the NFSA White List.

The new 'SGS - NFSA Program' eases the process for both non-registered and registered companies to:

  • Gain registration to the NFSA White List by granting Food Safety Management System (FSMS) certification to ensure compliance regulations are met
  • Assist certified organizations to challenge their GMP system to fully comply with NFSA requirement
  • Maintain their presence on the White List
  • Reduce the volume of compliance visits by NFSA teams throughout the year to certified organizations

The agreement was signed on December 3, 2020 with the Egyptian National Food and Safety Authority (NFSA) in the field of compliance with Food Safety Systems.

Ahmed Hossam, SGS Business and Certification Manager said: 'Our SGS certification team is proud to launch its SGS NFSA program. It offers a clear and manageable route for all Egyptian food and food packaging manufacturing organizations to qualify for and maintain their NFSA requirements.'

The National Food Safety Agency of Egypt (NFSA), established by the Egyptian Parliament in 2017, is an independent organization which works to protect consumers' health by ensuring that food products consumed, distributed, marketed or produced in Egypt meet the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
