Sweco has signed several framework agreements encompassing project planning, engineering, and project and construction management for Statnett, the state-owned Transmission System Operator in Norway. The contract period is four years, with an estimated volume for Sweco of more than SEK 500 million, and a potential four-year extension. Statnett aims to double the transmission grid investments in the coming years, with support from Sweco experts and other parties.

A steep increase in electric transmission enables decreased fossil energy consumption and is therefore key to Norway meeting its climate targets. For more than a century Sweco has been a major contributor to the development of Norway's electric power system. especially through the last decade Sweco has built an extensive experience with Statnett projects.
