Sweco will lead a consortium that will develop a new large-scale hospital complex in the south of Luxembourg, to be fully operational by 2033. The client is Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM) and Sweco will be responsible for managing the entire spectrum of design phases in the project. Set to provide the population of the southern region of Luxembourg with modern healthcare, the new hospital "Sudspidol" in the city of Esch-sur-Alzette is to be designed to incorporate technology, humanity, and nature in a holistic approach to healthcare.

The hospital will have a gross floor area of 121,000 m2 and approximately 600 beds, of which the majority are single rooms.
