DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

Syrah Resources Limited (ASX: SYR, Syrah or the Company) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr José Manuel Caldeira as a Non-Executive Director of the Company.

José is a highly experienced legal and regulatory professional with over

20 years' experience in the legal industry. He is one of the pre-eminent lawyers in Mozambique. He is currently a senior partner and head of the Corporate Law Practice Group at Sal & Caldeira Advogados, Lda in Mozambique. Sal & Caldeira are one of the leading law firms in Mozambique.

José has extensive experience in supplying legal and regulatory consulting services in the fields of natural resources, foreign investment, infrastructure, civil, administrative, commercial and labour law, as well as litigation. José's key roles since 1983 are shown below:

1983-1984 - Legal advisor - Ministry of Mineral Resources - Advisor to the Minister of Mines, with specific responsibility for the legal affairs of the Ministry.

1984-1985 - Judge - Maputo City Court - Judge of the Civil Section of the busiest civil court in Mozambique.

1986-1987 - Deputy Director - Empresa Nacional di Hidrocarbonetos, E.P. (National Hydrocarbons Company of Mozambique) - Responsible for all legal affairs of the company , including the negotiation of petroleum exploration contracts and tax advice (including reform proposals) in relation to the petroleum sector.

1987-1989 - Legal Advisor - Ministry of Mineral Resources - Advisor to the Minister with specific responsibility for legislative reform, planning for the business reorganization of the sector and co-ordination with other Ministries and their respective programs of legal reform.

Balama Graphite Project (Mozambique) Balama is the largest and one of the highest grade flake graphite and vanadium projects globally.

1989-1992 - General Director of Magma (Minas Gerais de Moçambique) - Magma is a state owned mining company and José was responsible for all aspects of Magma's operations with a specific focus on the restructuring and privatization of various mining units. 1992-Present - Founding and Senior Partner at Sal & Caldeira - description previously provided.

José graduated from Eduardo Mondlane University in 1980 and was admitted to the Mozambique Bar in
1994. He is a founding member of the Bar. José also obtained an accounting qualification from Instituto
Comercial da Beira in 1972.
As the Balama Graphite and Vanadium Project moves closer to production, Syrah wishes to integrate more fully with the Mozambique business community. Securing the services of José is an important step in this regard. As shown in José's profile, he is extremely well connected in the mining sector in Mozambique. Those connections extends to both the private sector and all levels of Government.
Accordingly, Syrah believes that José's legal expertise and business acumen will play a key role in ensuring that the Balama Graphite and Vanadium Project is successfully developed. The Company looks forward to working with Jose, and believes he will be a valuable addition to the Board.
