Taaleri’s first bioindustry fund announces its
second closing atover EUR100 million – the Finnish Climate Fundmade an additional investment in the fund

Taaleri Bioindustry I fund reached a size of over EUR 100 million in the second round of funding and continues fundraising backed up by strong demand. The fund complies with Article 9 of the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and is as such a so called dark green fund that only makes sustainable investments in projects that, for example, contribute substantially to climate change mitigation. The fund’s first investments have been chosen, and the first funds will be called immediately.

The fund’s anchor investor, the state-owned special-assignment company Finnish Climate Fund, made an additional EUR 5 million investment in the fund in the second round in accordance with its option. The Climate Fund invested EUR 10 million in the bioindustry fund already in the first round.

“We are very happy with the success of the fundraising after the first round. The fundraising has progressed in good cooperation with Aktia, and we will continue with it. The next closing will be the fund’s last and its probable so-called hard cap. The maximum amount of funds to be raised in the fund is EUR 120 million,” says Tero Saarno, director of Taaleri Bioindustry. “We have already raised more than 25 percent more than the original target size of the fund. This illustrates well how strong the demand is for sustainable investment products.”

Taaleri Bioindustry I is a closed-end private equity fund with a 10-year term and a target size of EUR 80 million. The fund will invest in industrial-scale production facilities and companies that can accelerate the scaling of bioindustry production. Products can be, for example, bio- and recycled fibers, organic fertilizers, functional biomaterials, and recycled materials to replace virgin products.

Taaleri's vision is to be a Nordic pioneer in alternative investments focusing on sustainability. We use capital and our expertise to build a better future, and in addition to bioindustry projects, we promote e.g. wind and solar power.
