TDK joins RE100, converting electricity usage to 100% renewable energy by 2050

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) has joined the RE100*1 international initiative as the company works toward ensuring that 100% of the electricity used in its business activities comes from renewable energy. RE100 is a global corporate renewable energy initiative bringing together hundreds of large and ambitious businesses with similar idealism; members include 3M, Accenture, Adobe, LG, Microsoft, Nike, Samsung, Unilever, and more committed to 100% renewable electricity*2. TDK plans to contribute to the implementation of a sustainable society, aiming to convert electricity use at all of its business facilities around the world to 100% renewable energy by 2050.
As of December 2022, TDK Group has a total of 26 facilities, mainly production sites, operating with 100% electricity derived from renewable energy. With the target to achieve 82 facilities across the globe, the entire TDK Group has a current renewable energy introduction rate of approximately 30% - and a new goal of increasing to 100% by 2050.

In TDK's Environmental Vision 2035, TDK has stated its target of enhancing the social value of the company and realizing a sustainable and prosperous society for all people by operating with an environmental footprint that does not disturb the natural cycle. TDK is taking action to achieve at least 50% renewable energy as a share of total worldwide electricity consumption of TDK Group worldwide by fiscal 2025.
